That was the time when I attempted to "go bigger" with the small structures I was developing for years during the work:

KINETICS | JEWELRY

Back in 1996, I got the equipment to cut iron, but I cannot take credit for the following works. I ended up marking the 8 mm iron plates with chalk and having them cut by an experienced smith in my neighbourhood, whose name, unfortunately, I can't remember. The elements on top, like the cat, the moon etc. can be moved inside the labyrinth.

After the Fine Arts Academy in Italy I went to Holland and then back to Athens. Changing countries affected my work. In Athens I went through a destructive phase, Many of my paintings suffered, as I did, because I couldn't make up my mind. That was the reason I stopped painting in 1992 after cutting many works in pieces.  Not as tragic as it sounds, I turned them into another work. :-) The following solution in 1997 made me very happy: Painting and cutting magnetic foil and then laying the pieces on an iron surface with a steel frame in the back, let made by the smith in my neighbourhood to resemble a canvas. Unfortunately I did the photos myself at a time where my space was abandoned, after the 1999 earthquake in Athens, bad light, dust and rust...

TV - MUSIC - STATION

ROBOT Music station by Evita Galanou

217 X 80 X 25 cm, iron sheet, small tv, amplifier, Cassette Tape Deck, Mixer, lots of cables, wheels, cd's, books, different objects that don't belong there....

I took this photo after the 1999 earthquake in Athens. The small vintage robot on the floor between the legs of the big one is an earthquake victim, hit by a falling piece of the ceiling. The Robot is not exactly styled for the photo...
